Mosquito Lake is located in Trumbull County, about 45 miles northeast of Akron and 50 miles east of Cleveland. Fishing opportunities include bluegill, largemouth bass, crappie, walleye, pike and channel catfish. There are no horsepower restrictions for boaters, and there are several ramps located on the lake. Mosquito Creek has ample shoreline fishing opportunities at the State Park, including a fishing pier.
We have been bass fishing on Mosquito Lake for 18 years. It is one of northeast Ohio’s best fisheries for largemouth bass. It continues to produce quality bass in large numbers year after year, even though it is one of the most highly pressured lakes in Ohio. If you want to catch volumes of 1.5 – 2.5 lb. bass, this is the lake!
It is definitely a weed line lake. It can get pretty choked in many shallow bays in later summer, but you will always find lots of fish in the large weed mats throughout the lake. “Flippers” love this lake and spend their time flipping weed edges and shoreline brush for bass. We have found success with many moving baits from crankbaits to topwater frogs.
If you are looking for a fun day of fishing, we would highly recommend Mosquito Lake as an option.
