Ohio Lake Highlight: Mosquito Lake
Location: Also known as Mosquito Creek Reservoir, this Trumbull County lake is only 30 miles south of Ashtabula, 45 miles northeast of Akron and 50 miles east of Cleveland.
Fishing & Boating Opportunities. Mosquito Lake offers bluegill, crappie, channel catfish, largemouth bass, pike, yellow perch and #alleye. There is no HP limit and plenty of ramps around the lake, with the largest one being in the State Park.
Fishing Report: We have been bass fishing for 18 years on Mosquito Lake, and the quality of fish just keep getting better and better for largemouth bass! You can have a ball catching 2 – 3 pounders all day long. Mosquito is a weed lake, so however you like to fish weeds is likely to catch them. Last time we were there, I caught them on black frogs, white spinnerbaits and a sexy shad colored crankbait. We have caught quite a few accidental pike and walleye while bass fishing also, although that was a few years ago. The State Park has ample shoreline fishing and a fishing dock in its own area. Definitely worth spending a day there. You will be catching!
