Spent a day fishing around West Harbor. Used the public launch on Catawba Island. The water was stained and 84 – 87 degrees. We fished the tons of rip rap there is to fish. The key was shade. Every fish was caught in the shade. They were caught with a green pumpkin/ red & black flake whacky rigged worm, a chartreuse and “safety green” frog, a white buzz frog and a chartreuse and orange crankbait. Nothing big, but nice, healthy looking bass like the one in the picture. We were quite surprised how shallow some parts of the Harbor were! Spoke to someone who was out on their dock and they said fishing has been slow since the heat wave. I can see why. 87 degrees is warm even for bath water
