Deer Creek Lake is in Fayette and Pickaway Counties * The lake covers 1277 acres of fishing water with 19.4 miles of shoreline * Ohio Division of Wildlife District One.
Location,The lake is part of a 7575 acre recreational area in Central Ohio * Four miles south of Mount Sterling on State Route 207 * The wildlife area is adjacent to Deer Creek Lake and can be reached from the east and west by US Route 22 and State Route 56 – from the north and south by US Route 62 and State Route 3 – SR104 – SR207
Distance from Major Cities ~ 14 miles from the Washington Court House — 34 miles from Chillicothe — 35 miles south of Columbus — 57 miles east of Dayton
Fishing Opportunities ~ Deer Creek Lake and its tailwaters support Bluegill * White Crappie * Channel Catfish * Saugeye * White Bass * Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass * Rock Bass * Carp * Bullheads * Flathead Catfish. All except the Saugeye and White Bass are native species.
Boating Information ~ Boat ramps are located off of State Route 207 and Township Road 197. There is a boat rental at the marina. Bait shops are common along major access roads near the lake. Camping areas – lodge – cabins – golf course are northeast of the lake off of County Road 17. There are no horsepower restrictions on the lake.
The Ohio Division of Wildlife maintains the saugeye fishery with annual stockings of 2″ fingerlings at the rate of 60 per acre. All other fish species are maintained through natural reproduction. Brushpiles have been constructed at shoreline access sites to improve angler catches – especially bluegill and crappie.
