Location ~ Lake Vesuvius is located in Lawrence County approximately 11 miles north of Ironton and 32 miles south of Jackson. The lake is accessible from State Route 93.
Distance from Major Cities ~ 11 miles north of Ironton. 105 miles south of Columbus. 131 miles southeast of Cincinnati. 14 miles from Kentucky (Ashland). 29 miles from West Virginia (Huntington).
Fishing Opportunities ~ Lake Vesuvius supports populations of *Largemouth Bass *Spotted Bass *Bluegill *White Crappie *Redear Sunfish reproduce naturally. *Channel Catfish and *Saugeye are maintained through periodic stockings.
Boating Information ~ There is an electric motors only restriction on Lake Vesuvius. A single boat ramp near the dam serves the entire lake. A small fee is required.
The Ohio Division of Wildlife activities include; monitoring fish populations ~ stocking of channel catfish and saugeye ~ construction and placement of fish attractors ~ physical and chemical water analysis.
