Mogadore Reservoir Bass Fishing Report

Wow, are Mogadore bass HEALTHY! Its been a couple months since we have fished there. We found some chunky bass this time.

Mogadore was a little dirtier than usual on this partly cloudy 75 – 80 degree day. There was a steady breeze blowing out of the west. We launched from the improved ramp off of Ticknor Rd., and headed to the right at the opening into the main lake. This was the windy side.

Everything we caught was near logs and laydowns in 3 – 4 feet of water. The key was shade. Those laydowns had to be in the shade. With water temps from 78 – 81, the bass were hanging out in the shade. Buzzbaits, jointed swim jigs, crankbaits and spinner baits caught fish. Moving targets got big hits from the 2 – 3 pound version of Mogadore bass.  Didn’t get any frog or swim jig bites – it seemed the dirtier water fish preferred louder, flashier lures.

Mogadore is one of my favorite Northeast Ohio lakes. It never disappoints with fish quality or quantity. I love the quiet of electric  motor only and natural treed shoreline. There is a path around most of the  lake for shoreline fishing, and a large shoreline area at the launch ramp also.
